Lock Times


Access to The Embankment Marina is via a lock which is operated approximately one hour before HW Tilbury within the lock operating times below. Exact lock opening times are dependent on Thames tide heights and visitors and bertholders are advised to check in advance with the Lock Office for any particular tide. Tel: 01474 535700 or VHF channel 80, callsign "Embankment Marina". Maximum beam: 6m (19ft) Maximum draft: 2m (6ft 6") The Lock Keeper is in attendance during the summer period 1st April - 31st October at each high tide between the hours of 08.00 - 20.00. During the winter period the Lock keeper will attend between 10.00 - 16.00. Locking out of hours by arrangement.

In November 2009 a United Kingdom Sailing Academy's (UKSA) yacht sheltered in Gravesend overnight to avoid a forecast Force 10 (Storm - up to 55knts of wind). The ex Round the World boat at 17ft beam and 9ft draft just squeezed through our lock to moor on our Visitor's Pontoon and allow the trainee crew a well earned run ashore.
